EARTH’S fragility is laid bare in this selection of images holding a lens up to the issues affecting our planet. They form some of the shortlists for the Earth Photo 2023 competition, judged by a panel that included New Scientist’s picture editor Tim Boddy and head of editorial video David Stock.
